Lemonade Stand Money Tracker: Turn Your Kid's Stand into a Money Lesson

Updated July 2026 · 4 min read

A lemonade stand is most kids' first business - and the money part is where the real learning hides. Instead of a pile of sticky quarters and a shrug at dinner ("how much did you make?" "...a lot?"), give your kid a real register: a free sales tracker on your phone where they tap in every cup they sell, watch their total climb toward a goal, and count up their profits like a real business owner.

The Setup (5 Minutes, Together)

  1. Create a "Sale Day" in Rummage Register and let your kid name the goal: "Earn $20 for the LEGO set."
  2. Set up one-tap presets for the menu: Lemonade 50¢, Big Cup $1, Cookies 50¢. Presets mean even a six-year-old can ring up sales correctly with one tap.
  3. Siblings running it together? Add each kid as a color-coded seller so everyone's sales are tracked separately - no arguments at split time. (Yes, this is the same feature adults use for multi-family garage sales.)
  4. Talk startup costs. Lemons, sugar, cups - write the total in the sale day's notes. Profit = sales − costs is the whole lesson in one line.

The Wrap-Up: Where the Lesson Lands

At closing time, open the Charts tab together. Your kid sees their day like a real business: total earned, number of sales, biggest sale, and the best hour - "look, everyone bought after the soccer game let out!" Subtract the supply costs written in the notes, split any profits between sibling sellers (the app already totaled each kid's sales), and let them physically count out their share.

That's goal-setting, arithmetic, record-keeping, and profit-vs-revenue - one summer afternoon, zero worksheets.
